Change the Shape of your Knitting with Short Rows
Do short rows intimidate you? Our instructor will demystify them for you in this workshop! Short rows are used to shape many items–everything from shawls, to socks and sweaters use short rows to help change the shape of your knitting. We will walk you through several short row techniques and go through the advantages of each one.
Participants should be advanced beginners or higher who are comfortable with knitting, purling, slipping stitches, and decreasing. This is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching short row techniques, and there is homework involved.
Participants should work the following two swatches in a smooth, light-colored, worsted-weight yarn and bring to class:
- Swatch 1: 30 stitches in garter stitch (knit every row) for at least 10 rows. Leave swatch on needles with yarn attached.
- Swatch 2: 30 stitches in stockinette (knit one row, purl one row) for at least 10 rows. Leave swatch on needles with yarn attached.
