Learn the Brioche Knit and Brioche Purl, then combine them to make a two-color cowl. Students will work on 16″ circular needles in class, which will make a headband or a narrow cowl. Once a few inches of brioche have been worked, students can bind off and use the headband as a gauge swatch for a longer cowl. We will also cover common mistakes and how to recognize them so you can keep going.
Participants must know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, easily recognize knit from purl, have a solid understanding of stockinette and ribbing and be able to create both without supervision.
Materials:
  • smooth, stretchy, worsted-weight yarn in two contrasting colors, one light and one dark, approximately 50 yards (or more) of each.
  • 16″ circular knitting needle, two sizes smaller than you would typically use for worsted-weight yarn.
  • scissors
  • locking stitch marker
Workshop fee is $50 for one 3-hour session. Yarn for the class must be purchased at Yarnia; come in before your first class for help in selecting appropriate materials and get a 10% discount on yarn purchased for use in the class.  Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of each class with your materials.
