Squishilicious . . . PART TWO! Brioche Hat
You’ve taken a Brioche class, and are comfortable with the basics of two-color brioche, but what’s next? Level up with this super squishy 1 or 2-color brioche beret/slouchy hat. In this class, you’ll put your knowledge of the Brioche Knit (bark) and Brioche Purl (burp) to work, and learn a variety of Brioche increases and decrease stitches that will be used to create a faux cable pattern throughout, and shape the crown of the hat. Pattern price is included in the class price. The stitches used include brkyobrk, brsssk, brk3tog, and br4stdec . . . whoo hoo!
This is an intermediate level class. Participants should be confident knitters who can Brioche Knit, Brioche Purl, fix their own mistakes in knit and purl, know how to easily recognize knit from purl, and be able to create both stockinette and ribbing without supervision.
- smooth, worsted-weight yarn in two clearly contrasting colors (1 skein of each color), sample was made in Katia Cotton-Merino
- US 6 and US 9 16″ circular knitting needles
- US9 double-pointed needles
- 4 stitch markers (1 for beginning of row and 3 others)
- crochet hook or stitch fixer
- ruler to measure gauge
- tapestry needle
Class fee is $80 for three 90-minute sessions, including the pattern. Yarn for the class must be purchased at Yarnia; come in before your first class for help in selecting appropriate materials and get a 10% discount on yarn purchased for use in the class. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of each class with your materials.
