Tiny knits

Master Charlie is almost 4 months old now, and he would have a lot more baby knits if he didn’t interfere with my knitting time so much.  I wanted to show you a couple things that have been finished for him recently though.

First, we are getting some new baby yarn in the store!  Coming next week is Aalta Cloud—it’s a fluffy snuggly yarn that’s perfect for baby toys and blankets.  Some slippers or house socks would be AH-MAZE-ING out of this yarn, too.

I knit up a ball into a snuggle-toy for Charlie…the blanket part is 12” x 15” and used exactly 1 ball.  I used some scrap DK in white & gray to knit a little sheep head for the top of the snuggle…it looks so cute peeping from the top, and Charlie likes to grab the ears.  Lorraine Pistorio put together an adoreable pattern set of Mini Lovey Blankets that are totally adoreable.  I left the arms off of this one (mainly out of laziness) and the head took me about 2.5 hours to make and attach.  Easy peasy!

And Charlie loves it…

Sometimes tiny knits are the best learning knits.  I have to share this sweater that our friend Debbie made.  She wanted to learn how to knit a sweater, and instead of knitting a whole adult-size sweater (with long arms and rounds and rounds of stockinette on the body), she knit a baby sweater!  This is the Gramps pattern by Tin Can Knits.  The gray yarn is a beautiful heathered Charcoal by Diamond Yarns  and the teal is Bold by Sugar Bush in the Truro Teal colorway.  These cute little buttons are in the store as well.

Isn’t it adoreable?  Since Debbie didn’t know a little one, she gave the sweater and hat to Charlie!  Find us at Rhinebeck…Charlie will be sporting his Gramps in style…

Want to try knitting a sweater and learning on something smaller sized?  We have a class starting on October 10 (THIS WEDNESDAY!!) to make a baby or child’s sweater.  Even if you don’t know a little one, starting with a worsted-weight project at a smaller size will let you learn all the techniques you need to know to construct a pullover sweater.  I might knit along with you!  One of my best friends is having a baby in January and it’s time to get started on that baby gift…and what could be more fun than tiny knits.  🙂
